This useful and practical book is designed specifically for all licensed mental health professionals. The author, Samara, has spoken nationally for many years on the topics relevant to ethics and mental health. This book will help you sort out fact from fiction, ethical standards from legal issues, and their practical applications in clinical practice. You will gain an understanding of and an appreciation for the purpose and necessity of ethical standards. Competence, within the field of counseling psychology, is important because the information available to practicing counselors is constantly growing and changing. Navigating the road of ethical requirements and legal issues relevant to the profession is a lifelong career requirement. Also, attention to cultural and diversity issues have clearly been articulated into ethical standards; understanding multiculturalism is critical for counselors. Values, principles, and ethical standards along with remaining consistent with ethical and legal guidelines defines a counselor’s professionalism. This is a book that’s relevant and useful for your clinical work and clinical practice. This book is also an excellent text book for all social service, mental health counseling academic programs.
