LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, SOUL & MIND

The heart, mind, and soul are three distinct concepts that we can use to describe our inner selves, and manifested by our outward behavior/attitudes. Though each is different, all operate within the same sphere of who we are–our thoughts, emotions, behaviors & attitudes.

“‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’” (Matthew 22:37-39). “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.” (John 15:12)

To love God with your heart means to love God with your emotions. To love God with your soul means that innate part of you that always knew that you were created by a Creator. To love God with your mind is to think and learn about God’s will and renew your mind.

As we think and learn about the Word and seek Truth — we love God more and more.
Loving the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind is your response to God’s LOVE for YOU!

STATEMENT OF FAITH

THE HUMAN CONDITION: I believe that God created Adam and Eve in His image, but they sinned when tempted. Human beings are sinners by nature and by choice. Only through God’s saving work in Jesus Christ are we be rescued, reconciled, sanctified, transformed and renewed.
THE BIBLE: I believe that God has spoken in the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, the inspired Word of God.
GOD: I believe in one God, Creator of all things, Holy, Infinitely perfect, and Eternally existing in a loving unity of three equally divine Persons: The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
JESUS CHRIST: I believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate, fully God and fully man. He lived a sinless life, was crucified, arose from the dead. Jesus Christ, as our representative and substitute, shed His blood on the cross as the perfect, all-sufficient sacrifice for our sins.
THE HOLY SPIRIT: I believe that the Holy Spirit convicts the world and regenerates sinners. Through belief in Christ, we’re baptized and adopted as heirs in the family of God and given the indwelling of the Holy Spirit to help illuminate, guide, equip and empower believers.
CHRISTIAN LIVING: The victorious Christian life is the life that is lived, by faith, in a moment-by-moment surrender to God. The victorious Christian life is rooted and grounded in faith. “The righteous will live by faith” (Romans 1:17). It’s impossible to overemphasize the importance of faith in Christ and trust in God and reliance on the Holy Spirit for living the victorious Christian life on this side of Eternity.
